Scalp Micropigmentation in Miami

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

The virtually painless procedure involves the use of highly specialized equipment and unique techniques to carefully and expertly inject all-natural, color-tailored pigments into the scalp creating a completely natural look of the patient’s hairline
Quick and Effective Treatment for Hair Loss Performed by a Specialist

Minimally invasive Scalp Micropigmentation procedure

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a simple and minimally invasive procedure that creates the appearance of a full head of hair by carefully and meticulously placing tiny pigment impressions amongst existing hair. Each impression replicates natural hair follicles, creating a realistic look that is surprisingly low maintenance.

When delivered by one of our experts, Scalp Micropigmentation can give the appearance of naturally restored receding hairlines, thicken remaining hair, camouflage existing hair transplant scars, and/or create the look of close-cropped hair.

Suitable for men and women

Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive procedure, suitable for men and women. Unlike other hair loss treatments, it gives you immediate results with no downtime and is less expensive than a hair transplant.

The virtually painless procedure involves the use of highly specialized equipment and unique techniques to carefully and expertly inject all-natural, color-tailored pigments into the scalp creating a completely natural look of the patient’s hairline.

A typical scalp micropigmentation procedure involves an initial consultation and two pigmentation sessions to achieve the desired results. Once the procedure is complete, the results of a Scalp Micropigmentation treatment can last up to five years.

The Scalp Micropigmentation Procedure

1st Pigmentation Session

During the first session, our experts lay the foundation of your new look by matching the surrounding hair’s color and density. Every detail -color variance, space filling, follicle thickness and more- is taken into account to achieve the best results.

2nd Pigmentation Session

The second session is when thicker and denser appearance is created with more pigmentation delivered to the scalp. This session usually takes place 10 to 14 days after the first procedure.

Post Procedure Care

As opposed to other hair loss treatments, the care needed for Scalp Micropigmentation right after the procedure is very simple and low maintenance. You only need to wash your head the fourth day after the treatment and, during that time, avoid any strenuous activity that will prompt undesired sweating.

What They Say About SMP

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Epstein’s for quite some time now. While I was looking into Scalp Micro Pigmentation, I found out that one of Dr. Epstein’s nurses was one of the experts performing this treatment. Since my transplant results came out great, I decided to have the SMP here, and my results came out great, under Dr. Epstein’s guidance. I live in Connecticut where there are a lot of SMP centers, which I’m sure are great, but with my experience with Dr. Epstein and his staff, this was an easy decision and I couldn’t be happier.

– Ali, Patient

Now that I’ve had my scalp micropigmentation done, I don’t have to worry about any of my old donor site scars from work done in the 1980s, showing. Thanks so much doc!

– Hank, Patient

SMP made the difference between looking good and now looking really good. Your hair transplants were really effective Dr. E, and by having my scalp made a bit darker, I feel so much prettier and not so thinning with my hair.

Scalp Micropigmentation FAQs

How long does Micro scalp pigmentation last?

Scalp micropigmentation is a form of permanent makeup that last typically lasts for 4-6 years.

Is micropigmentation better than hair transplant?

They are different procedures. Micropigmentation gives the illusion of more hair by adding tiny pigment impressions amongst existing hair, whereas a hair transplant replaces lost hair with a patient’s own, natural hair.

Does micropigmentation look natural?

Scalp micropigmentation, when done correctly, can look very real, but it is noticeable if you let your hair grow out too long.

How much does scalp micropigmentation cost?

If you’re looking into scalp micropigmentation surgery for yourself, it’s known to be a relatively affordable procedure. Most surgeries in this category can cost between $2,000 to $4,000, depending on a patient’s particular needs.

This will also vary based on which practitioner you go to; many will offer payment plans to help take some of the load off. Unfortunately, insurance won’t help with this type of procedure as it’s optional and doesn’t directly pertain to your health.

What does scalp micropigmentation help with?

Most people pursue this procedure as it can help hide the effects of hair loss in men and women. Whether it’s male pattern baldness, receding hairlines, or even alopecia and scarring from previous hair transplants, scalp micropigmentation surgery can do wonders for your appearance and self-confidence. Each procedure requires a unique approach as each person’s desired results will vary, but it’s considered a miracle to many people who suffer from different types of hair loss.

How many micropigmentation sessions are needed to achieve desired results?

It’s normal for patients to go through a few sessions to achieve the results they’re looking for. Depending on the workload, each session can last between one and two hours. Micropigmentation requires patience and a skilled hand to avoid any errors.

Some people may take less time, but you should expect at least two sessions before committing.

Are there any aftercare requirements?

Your practitioner will go over post-op care instructions during your consultation. You can expect to avoid getting your head wet, touching it, or engaging in excessive physical activity that may make you sweat. You’ll only need to follow these instructions for about four to five days after your final procedure, as scalp micropigmentation is known for a relatively fast healing time. If you have any concerns about how you’re healing, don’t hesitate to reach out to your practitioner or doctor to help avoid any further health complications.

Are scalp micropigmentation results permanent?

You can expect the results from your procedure to last around four to six years and may vary from person to person. It’s common to come in for touchups if a patient encounters any fading, but this is rarely noticeable until years later.

You also want to consider the skill set of the technician you work with, as it also plays a significant factor in how long your results may last. It may not be permanent for a lifetime, but you’ll be able to live your life for years before considering another procedure.

Is scalp micropigmentation effective with gray hair?

The procedure is effective with various hair colors as the pigment scale can be adjusted to fit a patient’s particular needs. This means the surgery is a great solution for a wide range of age groups and won’t incur any additional challenges. Gray hair is tougher to work with.

What equipment is used during the scalp micropigmentation surgery?

From disposable micro needles to a digital power source, as well as in our office the laser SMP device, the needed equipment will ensure the deposits can be placed within the skin with precision and at the proper depth. Not only does it require a skilled and steady hand, but permanent cosmetic equipment is essential for the patient’s safety and achieving the desired results. This may vary depending on the surgeon you’re working with, but it’s a delicate procedure that entails precision tools overall.

Are there any risks involved with scalp micropigmentation?

Above all, your surgeon will take every measure necessary to ensure your health isn’t compromised at any stage of the procedure. It’s a painless procedure that won’t cause any significant health concerns during or after.

You can head into the procedure knowing you’re in good hands and that recovery time is brief. If you follow post-op instructions, you’ll return to normal in a few days.

Can scalp micropigmentation help cover up scarring?

Whether it’s due to injury or previous hair transplants, scalp micropigmentation surgery can do a good job of covering up minor scarring. Considering its natural look, it won’t be long before you forget that the scar is even there. Then again, if you have a fairly prominent scar, it may be a little harder to hide, but overall, the surgery does a pretty good of covering the surface area you want.

How can I vet my micropigmentation surgeon?

If anyone, Dr. Jeffery Epstein is well aware of the concerns patients have when pursuing a procedure such as a scalp micropigmentation. It’s vital that patients ask any and all questions that cross their minds and ensure that they can review a surgeon’s work history before committing. Any licenses or certifications are also a good sign; reviewing their track record with previous surgeries can provide peace of mind about what you can expect.

Will I need to shave my head?

There is no need to shave the head at all for micropigmentation.  With the more sophisticated instruments it is possible to allow you to be presentable immediately after.
