Caitlyn Jenner transformation
Transgender hair transplant patients make up an important part of our surgical practice and they come to our office from all around the world. The most common hair procedures our transgender patients request are scalp, beard transplant, and body hair transplantation.
We do not live in a world where this is taboo anymore. The latest example is Caitlyn Jenner—formerly known as Bruce Jenner, Olympic star athlete and star of the hit reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Gender transformation
Over the past couple of years, the Kardashian girls have gained so much public attention and the last event of gender transformation in their stepfather certainly filled the front pages of almost every gossip magazine.
Caitlyn has most probably undergone several interventions on the face and body. Within four hours, she got one million followers who supported her in being who she always wanted to be and complimented her on her new look.
Hair transplantation plays an important role in this group of transgender patients because in male-to-female individuals, the high frontotemporal recessions can be filled and a more rounded natural female hairline can be created as on any other area of the scalp.
Although hair restoration is usually a procedure not at the very top of transgender patients’ list of procedures to undergo, it is certainly not nonessential.
A more confident Caitlyn
In male-to-female patients, a more feminine hairline gives the face a prettier frame. Meanwhile, in female-to-male patients, restoring a masculine (and now trending) beard or adding somebody hair makes a huge difference. As Caitlyn confidently posing for the cover of Vanity Fair shows, every patient feels happier if more physically resembling his/her desired gender. Every hair counts!
