Creating natural, undetectable hairlines... The creation of undetectable hairlines is based on a simple premise- the recreation of nature. Through close observation and meticulous attention to details, combined with the use of all-microscopic 1 and sometimes 2 hair grafts, the surgeon with an aesthetic eye and background can achieve undetectability. So, what are the keys to the natural hairline? 1. Not a line, but an irregular distribution of hairs. These hairs need to be arranged in alternating zones of greater and lesser density, achieved by placing these grafts closer together almost in mini-triangles in shape zones, alternating with thinner zones which are further back. 2. Correct direction of hair growth. The transplanted hairs must grow in an anterior direction, especially along the front, rather than straight up which is not the natural growth direction. This is achieved by the surgeon carefully angling the recipient sites as far forward as possible. After 3. Avoidance of scarring at the base of the grafts. This is achieved by using all microscopically dissected follicular unit grafts, which have so little surrounding skin at their edge that there is nothing to create scars. 4. Tight placement of grafts. Once again, these microscopic follicular unit grafts can be placed into tinier recipient sites, thus allowing for them to be placed closer together. An experienced team of assistants, with the active involvement of the surgeon, is the only way these grafts can be carefully placed to assure that they will grow. After 5. Proper hairline design. The hairline must be individualized for the patient's facial morphology i.e. a long thin face will often do better with a more receded hairline along the ends. This customization must not only be age appropriate for the patient today, but also for the patient years to come in the future as he or she ages. 6. Attention to details and the passion to achieve excellence.
