Yes I'm a willing referral for Dr Epstein. I had a 2000-graft repair procedure with him in Miami in December last year. I'm a "veteran" of earlier UK transplant procedures from more than 15 years ago, which were adequate at the time but by no means perfect, and left me with severe scarring in the donor area. I chose Dr Epstein on the basis of his plastic surgery expertise and his confidence in being able to effect repairs to give my transplanted hairline a much more natural look and remove much of the previous scarring.
For me, the whole experience was positive before, during and after surgery.
I did my reasearch on the Discussion Forum on www.hairtransplantnetwork.com. Dr Epstein was one of a small number of surgeons who had no negative comments noted in the Discussion Forum.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said of any of the UK practices. The views posted on the forum of UK-based surgeons were mixed to say the least.
If I can put it this way - I live just five miles from an established UK practice in Manchester, and on the basis of feedback from the Discussion Forum, I chose to fly to Dr E in Miami. I have not regretted that decision for a moment. Price should not be a consideration for you - what is most important is to choose a reputable surgeon who can give you a high chance of achieving the results you are looking for. In any event, my own experience is that treatment prices in the USA are not significantly differeent from the UK, even taking travel costs into account.
I did not have to wear a hat after treatment. I chose to wear a baseball cap to protect my head after the procedure, during my brief post-op stay in Miami and for the flight home. On arriving home I wore my hair naturally - I had grown it specifically for the procedure. You will have some scabbing
("crusting") in the transplanted hair, but this falls away typically within a week. In my case I had the procedure on Friday December 17th. By Friday December 24th, Christmas eve, I was out socialising with no visible signs of the surgery, other than the newly transplanted hair that did not initially fall away with the scabs.
You can view my nine-day post-op photos on Dr E's website - www.foundhair.com - under "Neil's story" in the testimonials section. You can view pictures of my situation pre and 16 weeks post-op on page 2 or 3 of the Patients Photos section of the Discussion Forum on hairtransplantnetwork.com. In the Surgeon Experiences section of the same forum, you can view a thread of mine entitled Dr Jeffrey Epstein, in which I have recently posted nine-month photos. You will also see contributions and photos from my friend "Phillyhair" who had a procedure with Dr Epstein on the same day as me last year. He is also a very satisfied US-based patient. I have volunteered to act as a UK reference for Dr Jeff and his team because based on my own personal experience I believe he is one of the top hair transplant surgeons in the world and an excellent choice for anyone considering a procedure. Not only that, but he is a person of great personal integrity and humility, which is not always the case in a world-class professional at the top of his field.
If I can answer any more questions for you, or if you would like to speak to me in person by phone, please feel free to come back to me at any time.
I am happy to trade mobile phone numbers with you.
Best wishes,
Neil
