About Dr. Shelly Friedman

Shelly A. Friedman, D.O., FAO CD, of Scottsdale, AZ, has proven to be an innovative world leader and teacher in hair restoration surgery. As the former and founding President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, and as medical advisor for the American Hair Loss Council, Dr. Friedman's career has spanned more than 25 years during which time he has performed over 10,000 procedures. His state of the art work incorporates such techniques as follicular unit hair grafting, follicular unit extraction (FUE - the incisionless technique), and eyebrow transplantation. He performs hair transplant procedures in a gentle manner with minimally invasive incisions to the scalp which allow patients to heal quicker and with little scarring.

Board certified in both Hair Restoration Surgery and Dermatology, Dr. Friedman is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the School of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University, a Diplomate of the National Board of Examiners for Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and a member of the Michigan State Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.

Expanding on his experience, Dr. Friedman has memberships in numerous medical societies, including: member of the Advisory Board of the World Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons; Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery; American Society for Dermatologic Surgery; and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. His expertise in hair restoration has been brought to the attention of the public with numerous interviews on local ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX affiliates, with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, and articles in the Arizona Republic, Chicago Tribune, and Vogue. He has also presented his techniques at multiple scientific meetings, serving as a speaker and expert in hair restoration surgery.
