Of all the trends seen with our patients during the past few years, perhaps the most significant has been the growing use of the internet for researching plastic surgeons and the procedures in which they specialize. While our websites- in particular www.foundhair.com, www.eyebrowtransplantation.com, and www.womenscenterforhairloss.com - with over one million visitors per year have remained consistently strong sources for new patient referrals, this past year has seen YouTube® also become a valuable web resource for our patients.

Proving that the founders of Google were pretty smart in purchasing the site, YouTube® is the internet's second most popular search engine, trailing only-you guessed it-Google. It has proven to be an invaluable resource for patients to learn about all of the options when it comes to specific surgeries and surgeons. Recognizing the value of prospective patients having a place where they can watch videos of actual patients, Dr. Epstein began uploading his own videos several years ago, and now has over 370 of them up on the site. These videos include those that feature patients immediately after a hair transplant procedure, others showing results of a surgical hairline advancement procedure, and still others showing long term results. Almost weekly, new videos are uploaded, providing patients with virtually unlimited opportunities to learn about any hair procedure they are considering.

Dr. Epstein in the Media and on the Lecture Circuit: Another Top Doctor Award

Over the past several months, Dr. Epstein has made appearances in several media outlets, including FOX-TV in Tampa for a story on eyebrow and eyelash restoration, and Ocean Drive magazine for being a top eyebrow doctor in south Florida. He also has been named a Castle-Connolly Top Doctor for the 5th year in a row. This prestigious Top Doctor title is awarded based on peer nomination and extensive research. Dr. Epstein also authored a chapter on surgical hair restoration for the definitive textbook on Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery used by all residents and fellows in training. Lastly, over the past two months, Dr. Epstein lectured at two prominent plastic surgery meetings: one in Atlanta in April where he conducted a hair restoration workshop, and another this month in Las Vegas, speaking on such topics as eyebrow restoration, hair transplants for men, and techniques for lowering overly high hairlines in women.
