Hi!  I'm Dr. Epstein.  We are all done with the hairline advancement procedure.  Her hairline is 5.5 cm.  It was over 8 cm so we have taken out around 3 cm.

It is going to be a beautiful advancement.   Everything is just the way we wanted it.  I was even able to bring this forward a little bit.

If she decides, we can do a little bit of hairline grafting right along here and round out the temple areas when everything is healed.

This is done!

Absolutely. Typically a procedure of anywhere from a few hundred grafts to over 3,000 hair grafts can create chest hair or other body hair where there was not hair before. Of course, it is important that the surgeon create recipient sites typically in a cross patch pattern to provide the most deliberately irregular pattern of growth for the hairs. If the chest hair growth pattern is too regular, than there is a chance it will appear unnatural. It is important that the surgeon create a very irregular pattern of growth in order for the hairs to look the most natural.

If done properly, absolutely. It is important that the surgeon pays particular attention to the angle at which they are creating the recipient sites for each individual follicle to be placed because this will dictate not only the shape of the eventual eyebrows but also the density of the transplanted hairs and most importantly the direction in which the hairs eventually grow. Particularly with the "head" of the eyebrow toward the bridge of the nose, it is important that the hairs typically grow more vertically and of course very close to the skin instead of perpendicular to the skin.

Hi, this is Dr. Epstein.  I am sitting at my desk going through my e-mails of which I typically receive anywhere from 8 to as many 20 every day from patients both interested in procedures so they have not yet met me as well as patients on whom I have done procedures.  Right now for example, I am going ahead and I am reviewing a patient from the United Kingdom.  He and his wife are both thinking about having a procedure.  His wife has frontal thinning and he also has a moderate degree of frontal temporal recession as well as some diffuse thinning.

What the patients typically do is they will send my pictures and I will pull them up on the computer and they will also be providing me with information about their goals and their concerns.  From that I will go ahead and I will review the pictures, print them up, mark them out to show the individual what I would anticipate doing for them in terms of restoring whatever I think is realistic to restore.

This is a very effective way to communicate with patients.  It lets patients feel that I have had a chance to personally evaluate them.  They are not being evaluated by a professional consultant but rather by me, the physician and given my 15 years of experience I can provide them with quite accurate expectations that help them to decide whether to undergo a procedure.

In a typical week I will treat anywhere from 5 to as many as 8 patients that have travelled in from outside of the New York or south Florida area.  Where my patients come from ranges from everywhere throughout the southeast, throughout the northeast, the rest of the United States but also Latin and South America, Europe, the Middle East.  I have even treated some patients from the Pacific rim like Japan as well as Australia.

When you go ahead and you contact us what you can expect is to have a personal evaluation by me.  In addition we have the ability to set you up with a live web consult, which can further provide some one-on-one communication which the patients seem to like a lot.  I will explain that in another video.

This is Eric. Yesterday we did the strip removal of his prior placed plug grafts and you can see he has a nice result. He is only one day out and you can see already the better shape of his hairline, how it is no longer flat or comes down. It actually has a slight upward slope and that is due not only to the removal of his grafts but also due to the fact that I re-created subtly a widow's peak.

We did all this area and just filled him in. We did around  almost 2,300 grafts so we got quite a bit on him. His donor site is a little tight.

He is sore back there but he overall is healing up nicely and he is keeping some antibiotic ointment on it.

He did great.

Question:

I am gray and I dye my hair. Would I still be able to dye it if I have hair restoration done.

Answer:

Absolutely - your hair can be dyed as soon as 3 weeks after your procedure. Remember, once performed, your hairs will continue to grow just like your own original hairs, and can be treated in whatever way you wish.

Please feel free to send some photos for me to evaluate, and I welcome any questions you may have.
