About Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, Miami Hair Transplant Surgeon

About Dr. Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey S. Epstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., The Founder and Director of the Foundation for Hair Restoration, is one of the most well respected hair transplant surgeons in the world who has almost 15 years of experience as a hair restoration surgeon and 18 years as a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

He is Board Certified, Facial Plastic Surgery; Board Certified, Hair Restoration Surgery; Board Certified, Otolaryngology; a Clinical Professor at the University of Miami; and Past President of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Epstein publishes and lectures extensively, is frequently featured in the media and press, and is considered a foremost expert in the field of surgical hair restoration. Dr. Epstein also provides pro bono reconstructive surgery to children and other people of need. Dr. Epstein maintains offices in Miami, New York City, Boca Raton, Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Dr. Epstein specializes in all micro follicular unit grafting, with special expertise in the repair of prior hair transplants, eyebrow and facial hair work, hair loss in women, and large procedures (as large as 4,500-plus grafts in select patients) for almost 15 years. Given his extensive training in plastic surgery, he is unique in the hair transplant field, and brings his aesthetic background to his work.

Recently, Dr. Epstein attended and was on the faculty of the
annual meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, where he led a panel discussion on the merits (his side) versus the downsides of pure follicular unit grafting. In addition, he helped teach a course on hairline design.

Dr. Epstein's procedure and operating room suites in Miami have also been granted the highest accreditation for a surgical facility - AAAHC accreditation. His New York City
procedure and operating rooms are also accredited by a national certifying organization.

Dr. Epstein is committed to producing the very best and most natural appearing results. His staff prepare all the 1,2,3, and 4 follicular unit grafts using binocular microscopes. He also uses the computerized Wand for administering anesthesia to make the procedure virtually pain free.

Dr. Epstein carefully creates all the incisions for the grafts using small custom cut blades. These special instruments create tiny and minimally invasive incisions that enable very small grafts to be placed close together. This enables a patient to achieve cosmetic density in a given area after only one surgical session.

Dr. Epstein performs all consultations at his clinic personally. He has many patients from throughout the U.S., Europe and Latin America with whom he communicates with, as he is fluent in Spanish. His web site is also available in Spanish.

He stresses the importance of establishing a solid doctor-patient relationship. Each step of the process, from the initial consultation, to the actual procedure(s), and follow-up care, is performed personally by Dr. Epstein. His patients appreciate that he personally calls them on the evening of their procedure.

In addition to doing excellent hair transplantation, with up to 4,500 all microscopically prepared highly refined follicular unit grafts in one session, he also frequently repairs prior transplants on patients who have had outdated procedures performed. Dr. Epstein has developed a particular expertise in this area and has authored numerous articles and presented his techniques at national meetings. While most of his patients are men, Dr. Epstein is also a recognized expert in the treatment of hair loss in women, having authored articles in this area. He also performs facial, eyebrow, eyelash and body hair transplants.

His extensive surgical background in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery has enabled him to develop strong competencies, not only in performing ultra refined follicular unit hair transplant surgery, but also in performing repairs of prior bald scalp reductions and scalp flap procedures. However, Dr. Epstein now rarely performs these scalp reductions and flaps, since today's hair transplant procedures are superior and more natural looking.

A Diplomat of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a past president of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In August of 2002 he was honored as "Surgeon of the Month" by the prominent professional journal - the Hair Transplant Forum International.
